Boost your classroom resources with this engaging Pshe community comprehension year 4 supported pack. Designed specifically for Year 4 learners who require extra scaffolding, this resource helps pupils explore the importance of belonging and helping others. By focusing on the roles people play in our neighbourhoods, this Pshe community comprehension year 4 supported lesson ensures that every child can access the curriculum while building their confidence in reading and social awareness.
In this lesson, children join Max the monkey and Ellie the elephant as they discover how different people help in their local community. The text is written with short, simple sentences and clear vocabulary to aid reading fluency. Following the text, there are four structured questions with sentence starters and answer frames to guide pupils through their responses. This Pshe community comprehension year 4 supported material is perfectly aligned with the UK National Curriculum, specifically focusing on the Relationships and Living in the Wider World sections. Teachers can use this as a guided reading activity, an independent task for SEN pupils, or as a gentle introduction to a larger class discussion on community spirit.
The differentiation is built into the design. We provide a helpful word bank at the bottom of the page to support spelling and understanding of key terms like neighbour, charity, and volunteer. By using familiar BookFlik characters, the content feels warm and encouraging, reducing anxiety for learners who find traditional comprehension tasks challenging. This resource is ready to print and use immediately, saving you valuable planning time while providing high-quality, inclusive education. Whether you are teaching a small intervention group or supporting individual learners in a mainstream classroom, this pack offers the perfect balance of challenge and support. Download this resource today to help your Year 4 students feel like a vital part of their community.
